Text is a set of chained words and phrases that allows you to interpret and transmit a message. It is any work written in the original version and constituting a book or a written document. A text is an extension language unit above the sentence.

A text has variable size and should be written with cohesion echoing. It can be classified as literary and non-literary.

Literary texts have an aesthetic function. They are generally written in expressive and poetic language, with the aim of drawing interest and moving the reader. The author follows a certain style and uses the words harmoniously to express his ideas. There is a predominance of poetic function and of connotative (subjective) language. Examples of literary texts are: novels, poetry, short stories, novels, sacred texts, etc.

Non-literary texts have a utilitarian function in informing and explaining to the reader clearly and objectively. They are informative texts without aesthetic concern. There is a predominance of referential function and denotative (objective) language. Examples of non-literary texts are: news and news reports, scientific and didactic texts, etc.
